The moment Jim and Sasha Allen were able to make it on The Voice Live Shows, they created history as Sasha was the first transgender person in the NBC competition series to get past in the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons. Now the duo are from Newtown, Conn., have taken the show one step closer to making it to the Top 8! Sasha disclosed that he was transgender in their presentation to participate in the Blind Auditions, and he stated to Parade.com that the decision was a matter of thought and reflection. Sasha transitioned in highschool and admitted that it was hard to openly reveal the vulnerability of his character to so many people.
