Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell hosts Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell is also a veteran of New York City's best restaurants. She has also learned about Italy's food traditions and its culture and the surrounding geography. As a youngster, living in the New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications at Canisius College Buffalo NY. I loved every minute during my time in The Culinary Institute of America she states. I couldn't seem to get enough out of it. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and has made an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of children facing difficulties. She also serves as a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she promotes the awareness of juvenile diabetes. As a guest speaker and mentor Burrell travels throughout the U.S. to share her love for cooking and career. Anne always felt fortunate that she was able to share her passion that she had for and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
